I think it all comes back to money – but doesn’t everything these days? John McCain is spending valuable resources to make a stand against Mike Huckabee. These are monies that could make or break the Presidential race. Mean while, Huckabee seems to be powering along on sheer willpower since the well of funds has been low from the beginning.
When I first started learning about Mike Huckabee, I liked some of what he had to say. He was impressive in the debates, and always had a likeable tone and stance. But I wasn’t supporting Huckabee. Just a few weeks back, I would have said I was a McCain supporter. But Huckabee’s unshakeable faith – even in the face of all the strength of the Republican Party – has caught my eye, my interest, and my support.
Mike Huckabee might be a problem for the Party and a nuisance to the McCain train, but he is definitely a stirring point for the conservative base. If the conservatives stand together, all the powers in world won’t be able to sway them.
