This has been an interesting race – particularly on the Republican side – mainly because “the man” is demanding that people take notice. Mitt Romney has enough money to pay off a portion of the national debt (now there is something I haven’t though off – all left over campaign money must go to pay off the national debt), and yet Mike Huckabee is ruffling Mitt’s feathers.
This is the first year where I have watched both races with great interest. Picking a party yesterday was difficult enough. Both races seemed important. Picking a candidate under that party was almost impossible. Everyone has something that I DON’T like.
In the end, I made my choice based on what I knew about the candidates, how they had been handling themselves in the public forum, and the promises they kept (or broke) in the past. The glitz and glamour was ignorer completely. The “electablity” of the candidate was ignored. I looked squarely at the man (or woman, but you get the idea).
I think this is the year there will be public out cry about how our President is elected. The process is outdated and overwhelmed by money and politics. It is high time the people got to choose the man without the “they’s” getting in the way.
