Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney may be the top tier of potential Republican Presidential nominees, but I don’t understand why.  Although both men have had strong political showings in the past, the other candidates are much stronger conservatives.

The news outlets are covering the ones that the polls say are on top, and even some of the undeclared candidates, but the strong, conservative base candidates don’t seem to get the time of day.

Who knew that Mike Huckabee took such a strong (dare I say politically incorrect) stance against the anti-gun movement?  Who knew that Ron Paul was such a staunch defender of the constitution?  Who knew that Duncan Hunter was such an advocate for right to life and parents rights?  Who knew that Sam Brownback had the backs of all United State citizens in the form of border security?

To read the head lines, you wouldn’t think these guys have a chance at any position on the 2008 ticket - especially not at the top of the ticket.  If you take even a few minutes and read about them, what they stand for, and where they are going, you know that they ARE the future!

Fortunately for the Republican Party, Web 2.0 is taking its place in history and getting the word out about these fine candidates that would other wise be left in the closet.  Instead of calling them “lower tier” candidates, the news outlets need to make the primary a level playing field.  All the candidates should be given equal time and equal respect.  If the media doesn’t do it, then Web 2.0 certainly will.
